Welcome to Fort Worth, y’all!

Welcome to Fort Worth, y’all!

Born and raised in Texas, I have called Fort Worth home since graduating from Texas Christian University…Go Frogs!  I love to travel and experience new places and cultures, but I always love coming home to the hospitality you will find in “The Fort.”

Yes, Fort Worth was established as an army outpost fort in 1849.  By the late 19th century, the city became the center for cattle drives and a trading post for cowboys on the Chisholm Trail. This is how Fort Worth came to be known as Cowtown.  Today, Fort Worth is the 12th largest city in the US.

If you’re looking for things to do while you’re in town, no worries, I’m sure we can find you something!
From BBQ to Tex-Mex to a nice juicy steak, Fort Worth has my fellow foodies covered.  Sundance Square is an easy walk from the Omni Hotel, and you will find some great restaurants just steps away, including Grace, Reata, Wicked Butcher, and Mi Cocina for dinner.  Needing a drink after a long day? Check out Thompson’s, Branch & Bird, and Refinery 714.

A quick Uber ride to the Stockyards, and you can spend some time exploring the Modern West.  There are daily cattle drives down Exchange Avenue at 11:30 and 4:00, as well as a variety of restaurants, western wear shops, saloons, and the world’s largest honky-tonk, Billy Bob’s.  Cooper’s BBQ is a favorite in our house, so give it a try and let me know what you think!

We love the bustling Southside district right across the highway.  This up-and-coming area is home to some really cool restaurants and bars.
The Amber Room, Black Cat Pizza, Hot Box Biscuit Club, Rancho Loma Vineyards, and Wishbone & Flynt are all great choices.  If you love beer, Fort Worth produces some tasty craft suds:  Rahr & Sons, Wild Acre, Revolver, Panther Island, and Maple Branch are on most local taps.

Fort Worth is home to some incredible museums just 10 minutes west of downtown.  The Cultural District is home to The Kimbell, The Modern Art Museum, and the Amon Carter Museum of American Art; all are open daily.
Needing to get outside?  This July weather has been amazing, so think about stretching your legs at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens or the Fort Worth Zoo.
Both are a short car ride from the hotel.

From sports, culture, nightlife, and great food, Fort Worth will not disappoint.  I am so happy to welcome y’all to my hometown.  See you soon.
