Brian and Shellie Garrett are the embodiment of strong personal branding, with success not only leading Tom’s Pawn but also Young Living. Now, they’re applying their expertise to a new endeavor, Tom’s Luxury Handbags and Jewelry
Known as Brazoria County’s favorite pawnshop, this new location is adjacent to their Lake Jackson store, leading their local paper to declare that “High End Has a Home in Lake Jackson [click here].”
“I’ve loved luxury items all of my life,” Shellie shares, “I bought my first Louis Vuitton bag with my first big paycheck from Young Living. Years prior, I went with some friends to a Tori Burch store, and while I was worried that I couldn’t afford anything, they treated me like a princess and really connected me to their brand. I walked out with a pair of $300 shoes.”
The concept for Tom’s Luxury came from Shellie and Brian seeing other pawnshops that had a designated area for their high-end merchandise. “When we went to California and saw the way that Loyalty Pawn had created a separate space complete with a wine cart, I was able to visualize the space in my mind,” she explains.
While she had not previously worked in Tom’s Pawn locations, Shellie has taken a highly visible role in this new endeavor. It’s her goal to provide a special experience for customers where they can interact with the designer items that they’d previously have to drive into Houston to shop for. “When you’re a customer of mine, your finances are none of my business…I’m just here to talk to you about these beautiful items, and then you make a buying decision if and when it’s right for you.”
