Local Business Expands their Community Support

Elk River Trading Company has hosted a ‘Blessing Box’ outside of their store which is located on Huntsville Highway, just south of historic downtown Fayetteville since April of 2020. The concept is simple, explains owner Rob Barnett “Take what you need, leave what you can,” adding that he’s only had to fill the gap a few times to make sure there are items available, “the best part about the blessing box is that it is practically anonymous and supported and filled by those who just want to help others.”

Now, Elk River has added a community coat rack alongside the Blessing Box. “As the weather gets increasingly colder, many people find that last year’s coats no longer fit the children or perhaps their own coat is no longer adequate,” he explains. That’s why we’ve put together this coat rack to help conveniently fill the need for our customers and community.

While neither the Blessing Box or this new Community Coat Rack could ever replace the outstanding work of so many food banks and other non-profits that serve our community, it’s Barnett’s hope that it will lighten the load for some and help brighten their day and warm their hearts.
