Orlando, FL – The Salvation Army Orlando Area Command is proud to announce that the esteemed William Booth Award was presented to John Thedford their annual, “An Evening for Others” on May 10th. The award is among the highest accolades bestowed by The Salvation Army and is reserved for individuals who exemplify unwavering dedication to the organization’s mission.
John Thedford’s selection for the William Booth Award follows a rigorous nomination process that considers exceptional commitment to The Salvation Army’s humanitarian objectives, remarkable community service through time and expertise contributions, outstanding philanthropic initiatives, and substantial support provided to The Salvation Army’s causes through various means.
“John’s positive attitude and strong work ethic have had a profound impact on our community”, said Captain Ken Chapman, Area Commander, The Salvation Army of Orlando, and Osceola Counties.” Thedford has actively served on The Salvation Army Advisory Board for 8 years and generously volunteers his time to offer food and spiritual support in urban areas across Central Florida through The Salvation Army’s Brian C. Smith Outreach Ministry. During The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign last year, Mr. Thedford supported 3 kettles with over 30 volunteers, and hosted “Family Christmas Give Away Events” in 14 countries.
In addition to his altruistic endeavors, John Thedford is a distinguished entrepreneur in the Orlando area, serving as the Founder and Chairman of Simple Management Group. Under his leadership, the retail pawn store chain has expanded to include over 97 locations in the past 36 months, solidifying his reputation as a forward-thinking business leader. He’s the 2019 recipient of Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” award.
