Pawnshop Consulting Group, LLC.Blog Commentary CAPA 2021

Ladies and Gentlemen and followers of the Pawnbroker Network!!

Jerry Whitehead here, and I am proud to say we just finished up another trade show this year. It was the California or CAPA show that was just held down in the Palm Springs area of Southern California. The event was scheduled for October 21st – 24th and was at the beautiful Omni Rancho facility in the Palm Desert. The weather was gorgeous, and the event was very cool indeed.

For the record, the CAPA group has always produced a top-shelf show and production. This year establishes close to 20 years that PCG has been involved with CAPA and we have been to most of their Southern California shows in that time. CAPA in the (pre covid) days and will be back up this coming year typically does two shows a year, a northern or NorCal show and a SoCal show. The SoCal show has traditionally been their annual convention as posed to the NorCal show, which caters to the state’s northern half and is somewhat scaled down from the SoCal show.

This year’s show was well attended despite the Covid climate that is still very active and lingering in California. We had a lot of great vendors there, a number of great seminars from the likes of Jeff Wilhelm, Yigal Adato, Sam Read, and some notable others. The trade show floor was busy and the Californians, much like our events, know how to feed their folks!! The food was good and ample.

The California group in general, are an amazing group of pawnbrokers and activists on many levels. CAPA has been very effective over the years in controlling and passing legislation on numerous levels to protect their industry, and they are very active politically. Many of their members host political fundraisers and functions in their stores for city, county, state, and federal legislators on an ongoing basis. These activities have proven to be very successful for them over the years and has assisted them in protecting their industry and even shaping the modifications in the regulations for their membership.

PCG highly recommends many of the members of our growing pawn family should make an effort to attend as many of the regional shows as possible for a variety of reasons. We all grow our network; we help support the industry, we learn from different pawnbrokers in different regions of the country or world, and are creating a growing fellowship of leaders and activists in our beloved industry.

Stay tuned for more input from our growing travels and client base. Jerry Whitehead and Pawnshop Consulting Group are here to serve!!
