First formed in 1902 as the NY Pawnbroker Association, The Collateral Loanbrokers Association of New York (CLANY) is the state’s only coalition of pawnbrokers. On November 18th, they hosted a Fall Networking event held in a private showroom on 5th Avenue adjacent to Marque’s New York Showroom.
Approximately 75 pawnbrokers from all over the country attended, including some from as far away as California, North Carolina, and Arizona. Sponsored by Bravo Store Systems, Marque, Marshall & Sterling, Entrupy, UL&C Insurance, and Yehuda Diamonds, the event was also attended by Simplex, SO Accurate, and NPA.
Opening remarks from the Board of Directors included a warm welcome to all in attendance as well as tributes to Harold Dambrot and Jason Weinger.
CLANY President David Kaminsky shared “We aim to continue representing pawnbrokers in New York and creating a coalition of pawnbrokers throughout the East Coast and Tri-State area.” The Board has an agenda for the upcoming year to work on continuing education programs and events, along with roundtables and other opportunities to share knowledge and insight.
