A Father’s Day Tribute

Meet My Dad

My Dad was George M. McCullough. He was born Feb. 13, 1926. as George Seth Munger.
Shortly after he was born his Mother passed away and His Father was forced to make a tough decision for him and his brothers and sisters.

It was in April that is Dad took out a classified ad in the local paper that read: WANTED – A good Home for two month old boy in best of health Mother Dead, father cannot care for same Phone 160 Main Rose B. Jolly

It was then that Mr. & Mrs. John McCullough took home the infant and later adopted.

My Dad is Gone Now. I lost my Dad Oct. 30, 2012 so Father’s Day will never be the same. Even though he is no longer here with us his Life is celebrated and the memories shared.

While I have to admit I never really took the time while he was here to let him know how much he meant to me and the effect his life had on me.

I never really let it be known until it was too late. In fact, until I did his eulogy at his funeral I don’t think I ever expressed how proud I was of him and how much I loved him.

He Served His Country in WWII as an 18 year old he enlisted in the US Army and spent the next few years serving his Country under General Patton. War changed him from what I’ve been told and it made him who he was.

He instilled in each of us kids a love for this Country. He taught us to respect everyone and most importantly to honor those who provided our freedom.

This is such a brief glimpse into the life of a man I knew as Dad. He was always there for his family. We didn’t have a lot but he always provided for us.

It wasn’t easy being his Son by I am so thankful he was my Dad. I always tried to make him proud and many times I know I failed but he was still there.

Today I give Honor to Him by sharing his story.

If you are fortunate enough to still have your Dad with you, PLEASE take time to let him know what he means to you. Father’s Day is the one day a year that is set aside for just that reason. This Sunday June 20th is Father’s Day.

You don’t have to get him a thing just those 4 Little words, “Dad I Love You” is all he will really want.

If you decide you want to give him something to remember the day with Stop by Pawn Plus. We have a lot of those things Dads like. We’re here 9 to 5 Monday thru Saturday and will do Our best for You.
Dad, I know you’re not here but nonetheless I want to say Dad, I love You. Always have always will and still miss you every day.
